Artists Information

DERWYDDON DR GONZO
They have a great musical talent that mixes jazz and electronica drawing on influences from bands such as Bonobo, Hextati, The Meters, and old afrobeat like Fela Kuti. CATE LE BON

Cate Le Bon has recently been clocking up quite an impressive musical C.V. She has already supported Gruff Rhys on his UK tour, played Glastonbury, Latitude and The Green Man festival and featured as a guest vocalist on Neon Neon’s single ‘I Lust You’.  Her first official release comes in the form of a Welsh E.P that will be out on Cardiff’s cool micro label Peski Records.

MC MABON

'Be Di Be' (the track included on Dan y Cownter 3) comes from the album Jonez Williamz by MC Mabon that was recorded chaotically in Gaiman, the Welsh town in Patagonia, Argentina and in various studios throughout Wales during 2006 and 2007. 'Jonez Williamz' is truly a gem full of endearing organized chaos, colourful lyrics, humour, and various musical styles. The album has drawn inspiration from a variety of weird and wonderful things from the MC Mabon world of delights, including “perros locos, air hostesses, armadillos, over-population, global warming, wine and coffee!”

MESSNER

Messner is a multi-instrumentalist who is based in Manchester and performs his type of folktronica music on his acoustic guitar and laptop. Originally from Bangor, he began writing material during Easter 2007 and released his debut album 'em am' on his label MoPaChi Records at the end of April 2008. The track was produced entirely in his bedroom, with Messner performing all the tracks including trombone, fender rhodes and acoustic guitar.

MR HUW

Mr Huw has been playing alone since the start of 2006 with his catchy songs.  With the company of his background music, guitar, keyboards and cymbal he has enough company and things to do onstage.

EITHA TAL FFRANCO

Possibly the only band you'll come across these days accompanied by two organs on stage, 60's hair do's and songs on a suicidal teacher and instructions on how to eat your neighbours. The duo have released their debut album on their own label since the beginning of the year and their catchy melodies together with their interesting lyrics combine to create an exciting combination, although a little insane.

FFLUR DAFYDD

Fflur Dafydd is a prominent Welsh singer songwriter, she has released two albums, one as part of the psychotic girl band Y Panics, the second as a solo artist with her backing band Y Barf (The Beard.) 'Dala Fe Nôl' comes from a third album, 'Un Ffordd Mas' which has a strong soul influence and the tracks are layered with electric and acoustic instruments, combining fresh rhythmic beats with passionate and hypnotic vocals.
